THE PASSION

200 TAN participants took part in The Passion in Port Talbot last weekend, including me!It was an incredible experience. 

TAN are very grateful to Michael Sheen and National Theatre Wales for giving us, and the people of Port Talbot, such a wonderful opportunity.  The organisation of The Passion fitted excellently with TAN's ethos of community involvement and ownership of productions. 
The Passion was at times alarming, at times breathtaking and at times heartbreaking....a real piece of groundbreaking theatre viewed by 6,000 people.  It was a joy and a privilege to work with Michael, Wild Works, Owen and the professional team; everyone's game was raised by the production standards.
Personally, it took me right out of my comfort zone, as instead of dance and movement I found myself singing and delivering lines.  I think this was true of many of the TAN participants.  They were of all ages and abilities including our wonderful Nicky Phillips who alarmed many of the audience bombing around in his wheelchair as one of the more militant resistance fighters.
It was summed up for me when I heard an audience member saying to her companion, "I will never see the shopping centre in the same light again".  I think it has changed the town for everyone.
